It is allied to Mycetia longifolia (Wall.) Kuntze, in its shrubby habit, small elliptic to oblong stipules, and a tubular corolla of nearly the same length that is villous within, but differs in its caducous stipules, large bracts, congested thyrses, deeply lobed, puberulous and lanceolate calyx lobes and glabrous corolla.
