Abstract

A new species of the rare chrysophycean genus Dermatochrysis Entwisle & R.A. Andersen is described from eastern Himalayas (Arunachal Pradesh, India). The comparative morphology of this taxon with allied species showed its uniqueness in thallus structure and cellular arrangements, thus is proposed as a new species, i.e. Dermatochrysis himalayensis S. K. Das, P. Basu & R. K. Gupta.
