Abstract

During an investigation of Zygomycetes fungi in Taiwan, two merosporangiferous fungi, Syncephalis obconica and S. sphaerica belonging to the genus Syncephalis, Piptocephali- daceae (Zoopagales), were isolated from soil. Both species represent new records for Taiwan. The differences in morphological characters and hosts between these two species and closely related taxa are briefly discussed.
