Abstract

The paper highlights the complex nature of Pedicularis gracilis Wall. ex Benth. in the Himalayas and enumerates two subspecies and four varieties of this species. Morphological and distributional data have been appended to show that the subspecies – gracilis and brunoniana (Wall. ex Pennell) Husain & Garg and varieties – gracilis and stricta (Wall.) Husain & Garg (under subsp. gracilis) and brunoniana and macrocarpa (Prain) Husain & Garg (under subsp. brunoniana) are distinct.
