Abstract
The genus Volvariella includes edible species that are consumed as delicacies by local communities. A new species, V. indotropica, collected in two districts of West Bengal, is described using a polyphasic approach, combining morphology and molecular phylogeny. Closely allied Asian species of this genus are also compared.
