Abstract

Huang and Ohashi (1977) in Flora of Taiwan (3: 309) have described Indigofera trifoliata L. based on Hosokaw 3271 from Pingtung, and Hsu 9441, Kao 7682 and Hnang 353 from Taitung which when critically examined revealed an admixture of two different species viz., lndigofera trifoliata L. and J. pedicellata Wt. & Arn. The latter species was first described by Wight and Arnott (1834) from Peninsular lndia and was considered to be endemic. It is interesting to note the occurrence of this species in Taiwan and therefore a detailed description and Its differences with the allied species are given to facilitate the correct identity.
