Abstract

Boletoid mushrooms are one of the dominant ectomycorrhizal fungi in temperate to subalpine forests of Indian Himalaya. During our routine macrofungal survey to Himalayan forests of Uttarakhand we came across a number of boletoid mushrooms. The present paper deals with a new bolete species: Gyrodon sharmae. It is presented with detailed macro- and micromorphology coupled with illustrations and ITS-based molecular phylogenetic estimation. Comparison with other allied taxa is also given.
