Abstract

A new species, Zygophyllum multifoliolatum Z.F.Bai & Xue L.Chen (Zygophyllaceae), from Gansu Province, China, is described based on its morphological characteristics. This species is similar to Z. mucronatum, Z. loczyi and Z. jaxarticum, however, it can be reliably distinguished by the following diagnostic characters: life form, number of leaflets, flower coloration, as well as capsule morphology including shape and length. A detailed taxonomic description, diagnostic characters against closely related species, colour photoplate, and distribution map are provided. Morphological evidence indicates that Z. multifoliolatum is an independent species.
